Frequently Asked Questions

All of the manufacturer systems are a little different, but they’re all designed so you can use them quickly, especially when it comes to fetching a call for a legal or public records request.
The system can handle multiple simultaneous calls during a mass-casualty event because it’s listening to all the trunk lines or VoIP lines on your system at all times anyway. So if you have 20 calls coming in simultaneously, the system itself doesn’t really care what’s going on; it just knows to record all 20 lines, always.
Access to your department’s recordings is based on your configuration. There’s user management built into your recorder, so you can set different access levels within that configuration tool.
Yes, the call recordings can be accessed easily and exported within the recorder. You can export them one at a time or group them and export them in a batch. Whether for evidence in a case or to satisfy a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, call exporting should be easy for you.
Yes. Retention settings can be customized for each jurisdiction or client. Most industries already have a standard they follow, so if HIPAA is the concern for a hospital line, that standard gets factored into how retention is set up from the start.
The inspection recording system for a building permit walkthrough is pretty straightforward. You show up on-site and make sure to capture the address on video where you’re at. There’s GPS built into the tool itself, but you still want to make sure you’re capturing everything on video. You’d walk into the site and go over the areas on your inspection report. You can also prebuild an inspection report into the tool, which gives the inspector, or a junior inspector, an easy walkthrough where they can mark each item as approved, checked, or flag it for needing more attention. The system itself tracks notes per item.
Field inspectors will absolutely be using mobile devices for this inspection tool. It was designed to be used on an iPad or tablet, though it can be used on an iPhone as well. The only person who would be using this inspection tool on a computer is the one creating the inspection templates, assigning inspection tasks, or reviewing the results of the inspections.
The inspection tool can be used by just about any industry, but the primary ones we’re talking about are shipping (large container, ship, or vessel inspections) and anything that requires safety checks in oil and gas. There’s a lot of opportunities with turnarounds and safety inspections there. For shipping and receiving, it’s the basics: the parcel coming off the truck, what condition it’s in, opening the box, what condition the product inside is in, and making sure what was received matches what was shipped.
There’s no specific citizens on patrol feature when it comes to the IQ3 inspection platform. It’s basically a video recording platform that citizens on patrol can use to document what they’re seeing, whether that’s infractions or crimes. The system itself is no different for oil and gas or shipping.
Ongoing support goes through our ticketing system, but we’re a small company, so you’re going to end up with our service department, and that’s going to feel dedicated to you. That’s just the way we make things work. You’re not going to have any idea we’re a small company.
We do provide training for your staff. Our goal is to train your trainer, so they can train anybody new who comes on board. And it’s always good to have your IT team ready to support the overall network that feeds into the call recording.

Yes, Vista Com is veteran-led. It doesn’t change how we work with government agencies or jurisdictions, we treat every customer at a high level regardless. It’s more of a good conversation starter than something that changes how we do business.
